Replacing large components in the wind energy sector is a fascinating task because it combines technical expertise, precision and teamwork in an impressive way. Here are some reasons why this area is so exciting:

1️⃣ Gigantic dimensions
Replacing components such as rotor blades, gearboxes or generators means working with parts that weigh several tonnes and are often mounted at dizzying heights. A rotor blade can be over 80 metres long – that’s the height of a 25-storey building!
2️⃣ High-tech and special tools
Replacing large components requires state-of-the-art technology, precise planning and the use of specialised cranes and lifting equipment. Every movement must be perfect to ensure safety and prevent damage.
3️⃣ Teamwork under extreme conditions
A successful exchange requires perfect teamwork, often in challenging conditions such as strong winds, cold or rain. Close cooperation and a common goal make the work a real team experience. No two jobs are the same: Every installation, every location and every component presents new challenges. Whether on land or offshore – the work remains exciting and dynamic.
4️⃣ Sustainability and the future
The work helps to maintain and optimise wind turbines so that they can continue to supply green electricity. Every replacement ensures that renewable energies remain reliable – an important contribution to the energy transition!
Gearbox replacement on a wind turbine: an example from our day-to-day work
In one of our projects, we replaced the gearbox of a wind turbine in order to optimise its performance and extend the service life of the turbine.
Replacing the gearbox is a crucial measure, as the gearbox ensures that the energy from the wind is converted into the necessary rotary motion for the generator. Without a functioning gearbox, the entire energy production would come to a standstill.
In this video, we show you how we remove the old unit and install the new one – a precise and demanding process that lays the foundation for continued efficient energy production.
