We support career changers with a talent for craftsmanship on their way to a vocational qualification – a training alongside their job at RTS Wind AG and a way how to become a mechanic or electrician:
Do you have manual skills, technical understanding and a desire for an exciting future in wind energy? Then there’s good news: At RTS Wind, you can start as a fitter even if you haven’t completed your mechanical or electrical training – and we will actively support you in obtaining your vocational qualification!
Whether you are a career changer, re-trainee or experienced craftsman without an official qualification – we will show you how you can start a long-term and successful career in wind energy with our help.
Even without training as a wind power fitter – here’s how!
Many people think that a degree in mechanical or electrical engineering is a mandatory requirement for working in the wind energy sector. But that’s not the case!
At RTS Wind, we are looking for motivated and technically skilful people who are interested in a future career in wind power.
What you should bring:
- Technical understanding
- Manual dexterity
- Willingness to learn, team spirit and motivation
- Willingness to travel for work (assembly work)
- Safety awareness and a head for heights
- Basic knowledge of English is an advantage
Even if you don’t have a vocational qualification, you can gain valuable experience as a fitter. At the same time, you have the opportunity to complete a recognised apprenticeship – and we will support you!
How can you catch up on your vocational qualification?
There are various ways in which you can obtain an official qualification despite the lack of training.
1. Re-training or external examination
If you already have demonstrable manual experience but do not have a vocational qualification, there is the option of retraining or a so-called ‘external examination’.
What does that mean?
- People with at least 5 years of professional experience in a skilled trade can apply for admission to the external examination.
- After a skills test, the qualification can often be obtained within 6 months.
- You will receive an officially recognised certificate and then have better career opportunities in the wind energy sector.

2. Part-time qualification – working and learning at the same time
Not everyone can afford a full-time re-training programme. That’s why we offer you the opportunity to gain a qualification while working.
How does it work?
📚 Learning units in the evening or at weekends
🔧 Practical work experience directly on the job
💡 Support from our network and training partners
🔧 Time off during the examination phase
This means you can continue to work as a fitter and obtain your degree in electrical engineering or mechanics at the same time.
3. State-funded training – up to 100 % financed!
Did you know that your first vocational training programme can be subsidised by the state? In many cases, the state will cover up to 100% of the training costs!
At RTS Wind, we are currently training two employees to become electricians through this programme – with great success! Our training partners in Bremen and Bremerhaven will accompany you on this journey and, of course, so will we.
What does that mean for you?
- No or only low costs for training
- Support from experienced professionals
- Secure job with long-term prospects
- Gain wind energy experience during the apprenticeship

Why should you do your apprenticeship in wind energy?
The wind energy sector is growing rapidly and offers long-term job opportunities.
With a completed vocational training you can:
- Expect higher salaries and better career opportunities
- Acquire specialised qualifications more quickly (e.g. high voltage, rotor blade service, offshore certificates, climbing certificates, etc.)
- Take on more responsibility and develop yourself further
Whether you are starting out as a fitter or have already gained your first experience in wind power – a vocational qualification will open many doors for you!
